Artists’ Encounter at Aerowaves’ Spring Forward Festival 2024

4 December 2023

Are you a dance maker based in Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg (Germany), interested in developing your international profile and connections?
Spring Forward Artists’ Encounter might be for you.
Applications are now open and will close on 3 January 2024, at 4 pm (CET).

As part of the Spring Forward Festival in Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Mainz on 21-23 March 2024, Aerowaves Europe is inviting 10 dance makers based in Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg to participate in an intensive capacity building programme which includes a professional development workshop, opportunities to network and access to the Spring Forward festival programme.

NOTE: We are opening this call to ten dance makers based in these three areas of Southern Germany: Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg to limit the number of requests and be able to address them as best as possible. We will invite participants to scheduled meetings, workshops, and all the festival’s events and performances, dinners and lunches. Aerowaves will not be able to cover travel and accommodation expenses, nor pay a fee to the participants. Thus, we would not like to ask participants who reside in distant areas to bear additional expenses.

  • Meet and talk
Online meeting with Anna Arthur, Elisabetta Bisaro and Roberto Casarotto to get to know more about Aerowaves, its aims and activities.
  • Professional development workshop
Led by Anikó RÁCZ, artistic director of SÍN Arts Center Hungary, this workshop focuses on working in an international context and artistic career development. It also offers an insight to Aerowaves.
  • Artists’ Encounter at HFMDK Frankfurt (20 March 2023) Aerowaves Artists Olga Dukhovnaya and Chen-Wei Lee & Zoltán Vakulya will work with the BA and MA students of the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HFMDK Frankfurt). They will show the outcome in front of a local and Aerowaves audience at Staatstheater Darmstadt.
  • Access to the festival programme (21 – 23 March 2023). The participants will have free access to the 20 performances as part of the Aerowaves Spring Forward Festival programme. These are the twenty companies selected by the partners this year.

Participants are also invited to the receptions offered to festival guests.

Who we are looking for:
We are looking for dance makers curious to discover different facets of contemporary dance across Europe and interested in developing and/or expanding their connections with international artists and presenters. Applicants must be available to participate in all the scheduled events as part of Artists’ Encounter.

Application deadline 3 January 2024, at 4 pm (CET)
